Explanation of the terms used on this page

What is a clitoris?

The clitoris is part of the female sexual organs. The tip is located between the inner lips. This is the visible part of the clitoris. Inside your body the clitoris is about 10 cm long. The clitoris is a very sensitive organ. The visible tip of the clitoris is an important part of the body for many women to feel excitation.

What are the lips?

The lips are the folds of skin that cover the entrance of the vagina. They protect the vaginal opening and the clitoris. There are the outer, thicker lips and the inner, thinner lips. They are sensitive to touch. The medical term for the lips is labia.

What is the vagina?

The vagina (also called pussy or slit in slang or, offensively, cunt) is the female sexual organ hidden behind the outer and inner lips, which keep it safe and protected. The inner lips enclose the vaginal entrance and the urethral opening (for peeing) above it. At the top of the inner lips, the clitoris is located. Behind the vaginal entrance is the vagina, a tube that connects to the uterus. It is very elastic, so that a baby can fit through at birth. The menstrual blood and vaginal fluid flow out of the vagina. Just as we differ on the outside from person to person, the outside sexual organs (the outer and inner lips, the clitoris and the entrance to the vagina) differ from woman to woman.

What is a mutilation?

A mutilation is the partial or total loss of a part or organ of the human body.
